Keynote Presenter Bios:

Keynote Speaker 1: Kristi Patrickus, J.D.

Kristi is a dedicated attorney with a diverse background in higher education law and advocacy. She served as the only Student Advocacy Program Attorney on staff at any university in the country. For years, she was, quite literally, the only person doing this type of attorney advocacy work. Kristi experienced, observed, and participated in the world of student conduct and Title IX from the perspective of both the student and the university, giving her unparalleled insight. Recently, she also served as a Title IX Coordinator for a student population of almost 100,000 students. Now, Kristi dedicates her time exclusively to her work and advancements through Patrickus Consulting.

Kristi has developed a holistic mastery of the complexities of the student disciplinary process and Title IX. Kristi is an advocate for procedural fairness in student conduct matters and is published on this topic in the NACUA/Rutgers Journal of College and University Law. Her passion for empowering students and advancing their legal protections in higher education continues to shape her career and contributions to the legal community.

Kristi earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon in 2021 and her Bachelor’s of Music Education From Missouri State University in 2015. At the ASCA 2025 Annual Conference, Kristi was awarded the Outstanding Volunteer Leader Award.

Keynote Speaker 2: Dr. John Wesley Lowery

Dr. Lowery is a professor and graduate coordinator of the Student Affairs in Higher Education Program and Assistant Chair of the Student Affairs, Student Success, and Disability Access Department at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He previously served on the faculty and coordinated graduate preparation programs at Oklahoma State University and the University of South Carolina.

In 2022 Dr. Lowery received the George D. Kuh Award for Outstanding Contribution to Literature and/or Research Award from NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, as well as the Donald D. Gehring Award from ASCA.
